Kerr Smith

TVs Most Lovable Best Friend

Pop Star Magazine

Kerr Smith is in his third year on Dawson’s Creek playing Jack, the adorable guy who was supposed to become part of a love triangle between Pacey and Joey. Instead, Jack turned out to be gay and has become one of the show’s most popular characters.

In real life, Kerr Smith starred in the sensational Final Destination and will soon be hitting the screens in his first leading-man role, in the edgy thriller The Forsaken. We’ll tell you more about that flick next issue!

Until then, we wanted to fill you in a little bit on what makes his heartthrob’s heart throb — from his fans to his family to the perfect girl (wherever you are).

Your fans love you. Do you get lots of fan mail?

Yeah, we get a lot. And I’ve actually had two letters make it to my actual address, which is weird. I read some of it, and when they ask for a picture, I send that, but it’s hard now.

What’s the best thing that has ever happened to you?

I don’t think there would be one instance. If I could replay my life, I don’t think I’d change a thing. I’m glad. I think my sister getting married was one of the best days.

Are you really close with your family?

Oh, yeah, very close. My mom’s my biggest fan. My parents have always been extremely supportive. When I told my dad, “Hey I’m selling my truck, which you own by the way, and using that money to go to New York City and give acting a shot,” he said, “Go for it.”

He told me years later that in the back of his head he was thinking, “God, he’s going to be bar-tending for the rest of his life.” What responsible parents would not be thinking that?

But luckily things have worked out today. I love them very much.

What do you think you’ll be doing for Valentine’s Day and what would you *like* to be doing?

I’d like to be with some beautiful girl. And what do I think I’ll be doing on Valentine’s Day? Probably sitting on my fanny watching TV, by myself. There’s not much time for relationships these days – it hits you when you’re not looking. Hopefully, something will happen soon.
