Mi Cssa, Su Casa: Katie Holmes (Joey) and Kerr Smith (Jack) become fast friends when he arrived in Wilmington, NC last summer to film the show. “I wasn’t in town for more than two hours when Katie called me up and said, ‘Hey, let’s go out to dinner!’ She made me feel right at home.” recalls Smith.

So when Holmes heard that her pal was looking for a new place to live in L.A. a few months back, she jumped right in to help. Smith says, “She called me and said, ‘Hey, Kerr, I heard you’re looking for a new place. You can move into mine, because I want to move downtown.’ She’s got this really nice three-bedroom house, but she’s there all by herself, probably bored out of her mind” The idea of having Holmes as his landlord appealed to Smith. “I figured I could be late on the rent every month,” he jokes. “So I stopped looking because I figured I had a place.”

But you know what they say about the best-laid plans. After thinking about it for a while, Holmes decides not to vacate her premises. “So I have to start looking again,” sighs Smith. “I want to rent a house and get away from downtown. It’s a little noisy.”
