› Kerr Talks My Bloody Valentine

On The Story

It's the story about a situation that went bad ten years ago and a miner gets buried alive and ends up killing everybody that's buried with him so that he can use their air and that drives him insane.

Cut to ten years later, and he's back. And he's angry and he's got a big ol' pick axe.

On His Character

I'm the Sheriff of the town so it's my job to track this guy down. And it's an interesting character too because, at one point you might think it's Axel that's the killer. He's in a marriage which isn't doing too well.

An old, kind of friend, comes back into town whose wife had a crush on back in the day. So he's gotta deal with that. He's gotta deal with the killer, gotta deal with the crime. He's gotta deal with the possibility of being the killer.

It's a lot of different layers. It's a fun character to play.

On "Axel" and "Sarah"

Axel and Sarah are married, but we start the film off with their relationship not being so hot. There's something wrong there; we don't really examine it too much on film. But the problem only gets exagerrated when Tom comes back into town because Tom is her teenage love and you know, Axel doesn't care for that too much. I mean, what husband would?

On Shooting In A Real Coal Mine

Shooting on location is always better, in my book anyway. It's real. We're here. We're actually underground. This was a working mine at one time. You know when you're not on stage, you got a fake rock, it doesn't smell like the mine, it doesn't feel like a mine. It's not 55 degrees and you don't feel the moisture. It just allows you to really be in the moment 100% when you're on location.

On The Film

It's scary! Trust me. I love scary! Scary for me, is like [The] Ring scary. The Ring scared the hell out of me. Friday the 13th's, Freddy and Jason and all those guys, well we have our own guy. We got Harry Warden. And I think a lot of people will start to know who he is. He's gonna fit right beside Jason, right beside Freddy.
