Kerr Smith is a good dude.
One might think that starring on a network TV show and making television history -- first ever gay male kiss on primetime, "Dawson's Creek" (May 2000) -- would change a person.
But as you'll see in the segment below, Kerr is just a good time guy who likes to go to the bar with his boys, knock back a few beers, maybe meet some ladies, have a few laughs.
I met up with him at his favorite haunt, The Venice Whaler, right on the beach here in L.A. and it didn't take long to figure out why he's in love with the place. I mean, they ring a bell at every sunset and all the drunks cheer.
And this week, Kerr and I were two of those drunks.
But we weren't alone. The "Life Unexpected" star brought a friend along -- a special guest, if you will -- who makes an appearance in our little piece, during which you'll hear Kerr explain The Whaler's three-beer policy, expose a show bromance, reveal his obsession with oysters and, well, you should really just watch...

Synopsis: Cate (Shiri Appleby) and Baze (Kristoffer Polaha) are paid a visit by a social worker whose job it is to evaluate both of them and determine if they are fit parents. Lux (Britt Robertson) is torn when her boyfriend, Bug (guest star Rafi Gavron, "24"), and best friend, Natasha (guest star Ksenia Solo), suggest that Cate and Baze may not be in it for the long haul and that Lux should return to her old life and the people who love her most of all.
Meanwhile, Cate is pressured by the executives at the radio station to deny that she has a daughter in order to save her job.

"Life Unexpected" hasn't yet aired one episode but star Kerr Smith says he's certain they're getting a second season.
"This show is very old-school WB. It brings back the old roots, the kind of show like 'Dawson's' or 'Felicity' that really made The WB what it is. In my opinion, The CW really needs to hang on to that," the actor tells Zap2it.
"Actually, I'll just say it: I'm not even worried about [getting a season 2]. I've been doing this a long time and it's so rare when you feel this way about a project. Everything is falling into place. The people, the material. We're a big family up here after only four months and I have no doubt that people are going to fall in love with it."
"Life" is just about ready to finish filming the 13-episode first season. The cast and crew have only two episodes left to shoot, which will see them wrapping just two weeks after the series premiere on Monday, Jan. 18.
So how is Smith (who plays Ryan, radio co-host and boyfriend to Shiri Appleby's Cate) going to spend the interim? "I'm looking at a couple movies. It would be great if I could get something, but it's so hard with such a short window. And hopefully I'll be going back to -- excuse me, I will be going back to work in July," Smith laughs. (Zap2it)

Smith starred on DAWSON'S CREEK, but Tigelaar insists his casting is pure coincidence.
"He literally came in to audition and I was like, "Jack! It's Jack McPhee. Why is Jack McPhee wanting to be Ryan Thomas?' He read and he was amazing," [Liz] Tigelaar explained. "I hadn't seen him since 'Dawson's.' We didn't know each other really well because the writers were here [in LA] and they were in Wilmington."
LIFE UNEXPECTED begins filming in Vancouver, B.C., Sept. 28, but is set in Portland, Oregon. Tigelaar dabbled with the idea of setting the show in Seattle (too many doctors), San Francisco (too glitzy), but finally settled on Portland because it "felt really unexplored" and gave the show a "Juno"-esque "indie feel for television." (more details!)

Kerr's new show, formerly "Light Years", has been changed to "Parental Discretion Advised". The show has been officially picked up as a mid-season winter replacement for the CW, according to The Futon Critic.

Eli Stone To Air Remaining Episodes; No MBV Sequel

"Eli Stone" is one of ABC's cancelled shows, but lucky for us, the final four episodes will be airing on Saturday nights, starting June 20th and we'll get more Kerr!
Also, according to director, Patrick Lussier of My Bloody Valentine, there won't be a sequel:
On the occasion, the filmmaker who serves as visual consultant on Jessica Alba-starring "The Eye" reportedly claimed that Lionsgate "has no intention of developing a sequel at all". It is further noted that the studio prefer to leave the remake film, which has scored big in its opening week with $21.2 million, as a one-shot deal.

Uh-oh... According to Post Chronicle, Kerr is getting a divorce:
Kerr Smith and his wife Harmoni Everett (who played Josie's manicurist in "Josie and the Pussycats") were married a few months shy of six years. He cited irreconcilable differences.

Kerr's birthday was this past March 9th; he turned 37. Happy Birthday Kerr!
Secondly, My Bloody Valentine 3D is coming to DVD May 19th! Icons of Fright gives us the scoop (with some exciting DVD features! Gag reel!).
Still no word on "Light Years", but I'm keeping my eyes open. Hopefully, some good news will come our way soon!

We have a good, long interview at Movies Online, in which he talks about his character in My Bloody Valentine, as well as the movie and questions about him! Kerr also tells us what's coming for him next:
MoviesOnline: Is there another movie unreleased yet?
Kerr: No film on the docket as of now but I do leave for Vancouver tomorrow morning to shoot a pilot for The CW, called "Light Years." It's an hour-long dramady, I guess is how you would classify it.

Kerr: I play a character called Ryan Scott and I'm doing it with Shiri Appleby (of the TV show "Roswell"). I have to get that right by tomorrow. We have a radio show and it's all about bantering about politics, any subject we can. But, behind the scenes, we're dating. In the pilot, I ask her to marry me. In the process of that, she has a child that shows up out of nowhere that she gave away back in high school and this child is now 15 years old.
MoviesOnline: It's every dude's nightmare.
Kerr: I know. It is. And within lies the comedy and the father of the child is this degenerate kind of guy, shows up out of nowhere as well and calls up the radio show and says, 'Hey, look, we've got a kid' and he comes in and I've just asked her to marry me and there's all this chaos. In the end, we do get married and the three of us decide to raise this child. Me, the weirdo and Shiri.
MoviesOnline: So you are all "Light Years" apart?
Kerr: The child's, the girl's name is Lux and Lux means light. I don't know who plays her. This just happened a few days ago and I haven't done all my homework yet.

Site Status and Eli Stone
As you see, the gallery is up, but there are hardly any photos up. I'll be working towards getting the gallery back to normal.
Also, on several places (most notoriously IMDB), Eli Stone looks like it has been cancelled, which means we won't be able to see Kerr's episodes. However; some shows like this do come out on DVD where we'll be able to see the unaired episodes. Will keep you posted!

Chud gives us a really cool review of the movie, which seems to be liked from him. He does mention Kerr:
Kerr Smith is actually my favorite of the younger leads; while his patchy beard makes him look like a kid trying to sneak into a bar, he actually invests the former lunkhead, current cheater and unlikely sheriff Axel with a sense of humanity. I liked the dude.
FEARNet shares us their thoughts on the movie as well as Twitch Film and Ain't It Cool.
And Michael Wanndmacher, composer for My Bloody Valentine talks a bit about the movie in If Magazine:
WANDMACHER: The film is a rocket sled ride from start of finish. It starts on furious and accelerates to insane. The 3-D is amazing and the whole process has been an absolute blast. As for the score, it's about as big and brazen as a horror score can get. No mercy. He He.
Hollywood Premiere
Someone reported at IMDB.com that the Hollywood Premiere is January 8th at the Mann's Chinese Theatre. Can't confirm how valid that is, so will keep you updated.

There's been some tidbits about "My Bloody Valentine": an article about film production in the mines and an article on Jensen Ackles, which mentions the movie:
Ackles is currently in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area filming the horror flick, My Bloody Valentine: 3D in which Ackles plays Tom Warden, a mentally unstable young man who has returned to his home town ten years after a series of 22 brutal murders were committed and finds himself as the lead suspect in those killings. My Bloody Valentine: 3D is set for a January 23, 2009 release with the movie's red carpet premiere tentatively scheduled to be held in the Pittsburgh area.
Very cool mention about the premiere being in the Pittsburgh area!

We also have a slew of information I added around the site! First and foremost, I overlooked a 2006 article that we didn't have: Kerr Smith Gets "Justice", insightful interview!
I added lots of Article Tidbits (all of which are in the gallery, but transcribed into copyable text versus in a magazine print), from "2002 The Hollywood Reporter", "2000 It looks like cuddleworth..." and lots of the Unknown Tidbits. I also transcribed the amusing article, "Jacks The Lad".

Todd Farmer, one of the screenplay writers for "My Bloody Valentine" posted a blog with his comments on the movie and the stars. He talks to us about Kerr! This is what he had to say:
I was up by ten and hit the gym. On my first day I met actor Kerr Smith. And I was very happy about that. Kerr is a Dawson’s Creek grad. And more recently Mel and I had TiVo’d Justice for its short run and were impressed with how easily he held his own against Victor, Jenny Garner’s daddy from Alias.
From early on, Patrick had given me access to the auditions. No director has ever done this for me. But that’s Patrick. And Kerr was a stand out. You know, it’s always fun to hear your words flow from the mouth of a great actor. But when that actor takes your words and delivers them in ways you never even imagined…well, that’s sort of dreamy.
Anyway, since I’m an opinionated son of a Kentuckian, I, of course, shared my favorite with Patrick. Go figger. His favorite too. No surprise. Because that’s when the Hollywood machine actually works. I’m nothing special. My opinion is nothing special. But when you get a bunch of like minded people around, magic nearly always results. And Patrick is brilliant at surrounding himself with like minds.
Anyway, I thought Kerr’s auditions were great. Magic beans compared to what he’s doing now. You can’t help but marvel at his performances and wonder just how long before this cat is a household name.
He also talks about the rest of the cast and crew. He further mentions Kerr when talking about Edi BigLove Gathegi. Check it out!
Also, Upcoming Horror Movies released a pretty good synopsis of the movie. Looks like Kerr'll be Tom's best friend and the town sheriff (whoo!).

More news on "My Bloody Valentine": 'Bloody Valentine' Remake Gets a Villain: TV's Kerr Smith, which we already knew he was in it, so not sure why another announcement :) But this part sounds great:
He'll be playing Axle Palmer, and THR describes him as married to Sarah (Jaime King) and the nemesis of Tom (Jensen Ackles), which sounds villainous.And someone at the imdb.com boards posted an entry relating to photos on the set, and one with Kerr! (here's the photo in question!).
Also, here's a video of Kerr at Sundance, 2007. He talks about skiing and snowboarding.

Welcome back! The site went into a little mess up with our old host, but we're back — still getting a little caught up. We still have the photo gallery to get up, as well as some support buttons and the sitemap. Also, the videos is a bit messed up. But don't worry, those will be up/fixed shortly.
Browse around the site — as I added some new content. The affiliates page was cleaned out. I noticed a lot of the sites that I was linking didn't link back initially! How unfortunate.
